My last post provided an obvious opportunity for geotagging of my shots using the new mapping feature on Flickr.
Frankly, I give up. Yahoo! Maps suck. Here we are, trying to geotag photos in the heart of London, one of the largest cities on the planet, and Yahoo! Maps presents me with with a weedy blue line to represent the Thames, and a pathetic level of detail of roads and landmarks. After you get past the bar fourth nearest to the bottom on the zoom scale, the page goes blank. It’s rubbish.
So, sorry, no more geotagging on Flickr until the map data improves. It isn’t worth my time.
Technorati: geotagging, flickr, yahoo, yahoo+maps
Don’t sire us Andy. Use something else. The Localize bookmarklet http://labs.sumaato.net/tools/flickr_geocode_bookmarklet/ lets you use google earth. The flickrmap stuff then picks up on this. If you do it this way you get to use both Google & Yahoo.
Excellent, thanks, Graham! That is indeed much better. It’s a shame I can’t easily tag a bunch of photos using this interface, but the level of detail is much more what I’m after.
