In the past week a couple of Yahoo! properties – delicious and Flickr – have both released new mobile / iPhone-optimised user interfaces. There’s a striking difference between them… The Flickr one seems very functional, fast and rich while the just-launched delicious one is pretty stripped down and basic.
In the meantime I’ve been looking at hacking around with iPhone web UIs for my own little projects – there seem to be 2 major “toolkits” to make this easier and look more native, iUI and iWebkit. The experiments are ongoing, but maybe a well thought-out mobile design in the Flickr mould is a better way to go.
